Meet Our Baby Book Club Facilitators in dlr Libraries

Vita Coleman runs the Baby Book club at dlr LexIcon, Sara Keating runs the Baby Book Clubs in Blackrock, Shankill and Stillorgan Libraries and Sarah Webb runs the Baby Book Clubs in Dalkey and Deansgrange Libraries

Vita Coleman, library staff member

Vita runs the dlr LexIcon Baby Book Club. Vita is a former piano teacher, currently a library assistant, student and mother. Areas of interest include early years literacies, early years arts, digital media, reader advisory and storytelling. Vita writes for Children’s Books Ireland, mostly about picture books.  Vitas happiest achievement to date is getting an enormous multi-coloured drum for the children in Baby Book Club to joyfully wallop as they sing along to the month’s themed songs. 

Sara Keating, journalist

Sara Keating is a cultural journalist with a passion for reading to young children. Sara writes a monthly column about Children's Books for The Irish Times and blogs about her cultural adventures with her two boys. You can read Sara’s blog here. Sara takes an interactive sensory-led approach to storytelling and gives babies and toddlers lots of opportunity to get involved through simple drama games and songs. Her favourite books for 0-3's are Chris Haughton's ‘A bit lost’, Oliver Jeffer's ‘How to catch a star’, and ‘Peek a who?’ by Nina Leyden.

Sarah Webb, writer

Sarah Webb has over 20 years experience in children's books.  In 2015 Sarah was awarded the Children's Books Ireland Award for Outstanding Contribution to Children's Books and is currently the dlr Writer in Residence 2016-17. Sarah loves sharing her passion for books with all children, no matter how small.  Her motto is: ‘Babies are never too little to listen and look!’ Sarah shares nursery rhymes and songs at each baby book club. Every child goes home with a craft piece or art work they have created, plus a book list of great books for babies and toddlers, and parents also have a chance to ask Sarah for reading advice and recommendations for all their children.
