Dark Night- A True Batman Story

By Paul Dini

In the 1990s, legendary writer Paul Dini had a flourishing career writing the hugely popular Batman: The Animated Series and Tiny Toon Adventures.

This book is an autobiographical tale of writer Paul Dini’s courageous struggle to overcome a desperate situation, following a walk home onenight where he was jumped and attacked.
In this book Dini relates his experiences of dealing with the physical and emotional fall out of the attack by using Batman characters such as thedark knight himself, Harvey Dent, The Joker and Poison Ivy as manifestations of the wrestling parts of his psyche. Dini wrestles with why superheroes matter in a world where Batman wasn’t there to save him?
Brilliantly illustrated, ultimately the book is a tribute to the power of imagination and how important stories are because they offer us catharsis from the harsh experiences of the real world, something that I feel in these increasingly frightening times is greatly needed.
