We have a great line up of *FREE* events in our libraries for Children's Book Festival 2014, plenty to keep the kids occupied during mid-term break and all through the month of October! Please contact relevant library branches to book any places.

Children's Events kick off this Saturday 4th October with an Art Workshop in Stillorgan Library!

Making Magic Books & Paper Toys’ with Doreen Kennedy

Make instant books with pop-up features and mini accordion books. (Ages 7-12yrs) Max 8 children. 

  • Stillorgan Library: Saturday 4th & Saturday 11th October 10.30-11.30am
  • Dundrum Library: Saturday 18th October x 2 (am & pm) 10.30-11.30am & 2-3pm.

Lost and Found Puppet Making Workshop with Edel Cox

In connection with the Children’s Book Festival we are hosting a creative arts workshop based on the popular children’s book ‘Lost and Found’ by Oliver Jeffers. In this workshop, children will create their very own animal puppet companion to take on strange and wonderful adventures. The puppet could be a lost little penguin, or even a ferocious wild beast!

'Where the Wild Things Are' Hat making Workshop with Edel Cox

In connection with the Children’s Book Festival we are hosting a creative arts workshop based on the popular children’s book ‘Where the Wild Things are’. The children will be encouraged to create their very own fantastical and powerful hat, just like Max’s.

Spooky Storytelling with Simone

Want to hear spooky stories to make the hair on the back of your neck stand up?? We have spooky stories for all age groups. Children are welcome to come dressed up as their favourite scary character! Tuesday 21st Oct at Dundrum Library at 3pm

  1. Witches & Creepy Crawlies at 11am (4-6yrs) & 2pm (7-9yrs)
  2. Gruesome Ghost Stories at 3.30pm (10-12yrs)

Halloween Mask Making with Edel Cox

It’s Halloween and time to show off our scary side! In these creative workshops, children will design and make their own unique Halloween masks. The children will use a range of materials such as newspaper, fabric and feathers, while using collage and construction techniques. We will look at Venetian, African and animal masks to inspire our creativity.

Ages 6+ Max 12 Children
