Humans of the Biosphere

This exhibition celebrates the sustainable and harmonious relationship between people and nature, fostered by UNESCO's Man and the Biosphere Programme. It was produced by local man Derek Skehan with the aim of capturing through a lens the shared connections between local people and our internationally important nature reserves. The series was initially started during lockdown and sought to give local people the opportunity to share their passion for the biosphere and help inspire others to understand and appreciate its importance and value to the local community.
 
The Dublin Bay Biosphere, which includes Dún Laoghaire and Dalkey, is one of only two Biosphere Reserves in Ireland and is part of a network of 738 biospheres across the globe. Biosphere Reserves are actively managed to ensure a sustainable future for our nature reserves by ensuring a harmonious connection between people and nature.
