What We Stock
There are over 300,000 items available to borrow free of charge from dlr branch libraries. The collection has something for all ages and tastes. Check out our catalogue for the latest bestsellers, classical or contemporary literature, or select from a wide range of educational, recreational and cultural material on our shelves.
Newspapers and magazines are available in all branches.
Short Loan collections at DLR Libraries
2024 will see an exciting new initiative introduced to DLR Libraries, the Short Loan collection. Multiple copies of very popular titles for both adults and children will be available to borrow for a shorter loan period, and as this collection is non-reservable, it will now be possible to walk into your local library and find a copy of the latest chart topper sitting on the shelf. The Short Loan collections will complement the inter-library loans service as all titles in these collections will also be available to reserve nationally.
Don’t want a book?
We have an extensive collection of DVDs, computer games, talking books, CDs and language courses in our branches.
Downloadable books and Magazines
You can browse, check out and download audio books, e-books, magazines, music and video using your library card 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Research and Information
Most of our research material is available online and a small selection of reference books is held for consultation in each library. Our public internet PCs may be used to source and download application forms.
Codema Energy Saving Kits
Energy Savings Kits will help householders better understand their energy use and reduce their bills. The six tools in the Codema Energy Saving Kit address key areas of energy use in the home - space heating, hot water and electricity consumption - and can identify common issues such as lack of insulation, poor ventilation and the appliances that might be driving up electricity bills. To request an Energy Saving Kit, please contact your local library.
