Using Your Library
Cabinteely Library closure: due to unforeseen circumstances arising from building conservation works ongoing in Cabinteely Library, we have had to close the Library from the afternoon of Wednesday 20/11/24. We hope to reopen at the usual time on Thursday 21/11/24 at 1.15pm. In the meantime, please contact one of our other branches with queries.
Along with eBooks and eAudiobooks, you can now also read online newspapers and magazines via the ePress section.
Download digital books from some of the world’s most popular authors to your computer or directly to your smartphone/tablet via the BorrowBox app. You can also log in via Internet browser HERE.
Libby/OverDrive offer a large selection of eBook, audiobook, music and video titles.
This is based on the ‘library lending model’ whereby titles are ‘checked out’ and issued to your account for 21 days. You can check out up to 12 titles at any given time. If a title is checked out, it is no longer available to other borrowers until the 21 day lending period is up. Once you download a title, you can then access it on your computer but you have the additional option of transferring it to an external device such as an eReader, MP3 player, Smartphone, iPad or tablet. If you are interested in a title which is currently checked out, you can place a ‘hold’ on it and you will be informed by email when the title becomes available.
The desktop version is at the dlr Libraries LibbyApp home page and the Libby app can be
downloaded via Google Play and the App Store.
Please note that Kindle e-reader devices are not compatible with this service in Ireland (Kindle Fire tablets should allow you to download the Libby app).
To use Libby/OverDrive, you will need your library card number and PIN. Help pages are available on the site and you may also contact overdrive@dlrcoco.ie with any queries. For more information, click on the DLR Libraries LibbyApp home page
DLR citizens who wish to become members can join online HERE, where they will be given a temporary library card number and can generate a PIN, or by visiting one of our
library branches. Please note that temporary cards from joining online will need to be replaced with a physical card, within one month, in order to continue to use the service as a DLR library patron.
TumbleBookLibrary is an online collection of ebooks for children. You can use your computer, tablet, or mobile phone. All you need is an Internet connection. There are no downloads - books are streamed right to your device at the click of a button. Happy Tumbling!
