LexIcon Library


dlr LexIcon is an award-winning, five-storey cultural landmark that opened its doors in 2015. As Ireland’s largest and most visited public library, it welcomes an average of 1,300 visitors each day.


Home to over 135,000 items across its adult, junior and local history collections, the LexIcon also offers more than 60 public computers, 140 dedicated study spaces and a  floor devoted to Local Studies and Irish authors. The building also houses the dlr Municipal Gallery, curated by the dlr Arts Office making it a vibrant hub for learning, creativity and community engagement.

 

Study spaces are currently available on a first-come, first-served basis.  However, during peak exam periods a booking system will be implemented.  Please contact the branch for more information.

dlr LexIcon - The story so far (1 of 2)

In early summer 2012, work began in earnest on the iconic dlr LexIcon, the Central Library and Cultural Centre in the heart of Dún Laoghaire. This film, in two parts, shows how the building gradually came together and how the public came and enjoyed their first experiences.
