The Domestic in Poetry with Sara Mullen

Using lines or elements of poetry and prose as prompts, as well as real life objects including baking utensils and found objects as inspiration, participants will be guided through writing exercises in an exploration of memories of home and the objects which evoke them, looking at meaning and the extraordinary in the everyday domestic. Participants can work on poetry or prose, or explore both.
Sara Mullen writes poetry and short fiction and her work has featured in various journals and anthologies including, most recently, Tearing Stripes off Zebras (Arlen House, 2023), Fire: Brigid and the Sacred Feminine (Arlen House, 2024) and Washing Windows V (Arlen House, 2025). She teaches English language and literacy, and creative writing.
