Plan International Ireland, the development and humanitarian organisation advancing children's rights and equality for girls, is marking International Day of the Girl (11 October) with a powerful photographic exhibition. Girls in Crisis aims to raise awareness about the specific challenges faced by girls and young women dealing with conflict and displacement in Ukraine, Gaza and Sudan through compelling visual stories. Girls are disproportionately impacted by conflict, with displacement often forcing them to drop out of school and putting them at greater risk of child marriage, sexual and gender-based violence and trafficking.

The exhibtion features moving and effective images from these contexts including a shoot by Peter Caton, commissioned by Plan, taken in the refugee camp in the small border town of Renk in South Sudan, where over 1,000 refugees fleeing the conflict in neighbouring Sudan cross over every day, seeking water, food and shelter in what is regarded as the world's largest displacement crisis. Plan International specialises in offering Education in Emergencies and creating child-friendly spaces where we offer mental health and psychosocial support and play therapy traumatised children.
