Dalkey online folkore exhibition

Take a moment to wander through the folklore of Dalkey, passed on from its inhabitants over ninety years ago. Recorded in the Schools’ Folklore Collection, part of the National Folklore Collection, UCD, the exhibition shares the well-worn stories and social histories passed down through the community. Although only a few Dalkey schools are represented here, the Schools Collection contains "in excess of 750,000 pages of local history and oral tradition" collected from thousands of schoolchildren from across the Republic of Ireland in the late 1930s. Our selection is a fraction of this rich national heritage of local storytelling, one that not only captures a snapshot of a community but enriches the lives of those who love a good tale.
