Deansgrange Cemetery: Republican Roll of Honour
11 June, 2018
dlr County
In the West Section of Deansgrange Cemetery, the Republican Plot is contained within a granite surround and overlooked by a ‘Roll of Honour’ memorial, which commemorates seventeen men who lost their lives during the Easter Rising (1916), the Irish War of Independence (1919 - 1921) and the Irish Civil War (1922 - 1923).
After new research local historian Brian Smith has produced a booklet on those individuals commemorated in the Republican Plot of Deansgrange Cemetery. The booklet contains brief biographies of the seventeen men, and provides a concise account of their backgrounds and the events that led to their deaths during this period of Ireland’s history. The booklet has been published with the assistance of dlr County Council, and copies are available at any dlr library. The booklet is free but is of a limited print-run.
