Deansgrange Library Re opening

Deansgrange library has been closed for essential roof maintenance. The inclement weather in May delayed progress on the roof works. However, we are delighted to update that Deansgrange library will re-open to the public from Wednesday 30 June.

The library, while closed, has had an extensive refurbishment of the roof and surface covering of fibreglass across the roof domes and flat roof areas. There have also been some new windows installed.

During the Lockdown period, Deansgrange library has also had a meeting room upgrade, with accessible egress route to carpark added. The meeting room has also had new carpeting and furniture added. Note: Current public health guidelines don’t permit indoor meetings to take place.

Sensory grant funding has enabled the installation of a Sensory wall, sensory trolley, sensory toys, sensory stock, which all complement the existing Tovertafel (Magic Table) for use as a sensory area.  A dividing wall allows the meeting room to be divided into both a sensory and  a general meeting room space for the public, which will be bookable during My Open Library periods.  Note: Current public health guidelines don’t permit the My Open Library service to operate.

We are pleased to announce also the installation of an adult change table and hoist in one of the public toilets, and both toilets have been enabled for use during My Open Library periods.

Some new exciting creative technologies have also been purchased for the Library, including a HP Sprout,  3D printer, and a large Promethean screen, to allow creative tech. workshops when restrictions allow.

We look forward to welcoming you back inside this busy library space!
