12 Days of Christmas with Library Staff (Dec 1st-12th)

Tune in for festive crafts, stories and poems to get you in the Christmas spirit! There will be something new to see everyday from the first to the twelfth.


Storytime with Library Staff (Dec 15th & 17th)

Cosy up with a Scéal Nollaig as Gaeilge and a classic winter-themed fairy-tale.

Join us live on Zoom throughout December for stories, arts and crafts.

Booking for all Zoom events is essential via dlr Libraries Eventbrite.

Saturday 4 December 2.30pm The Vanishing Lake

Picture book author/illustrator Paddy Donnelly will read from his book, one of dlr libraries new Scéal Trails for 2021. He will show you how to draw characters from the story and even share some extra stories that didn't make it into the book! 


Wednesday 8 December 3.30pm The Last Seaweed Pie

A nature focused workshop. Paddy Donnelly illustrated this story of the ocean dwelling Sea-ples and the jungle Tree-ples. He will read the story, show you how to draw the characters and doodle some new costumes for the Tree-ple! 


Thursday 9 December 3.30pm Warm Tales for Cold Days

Storyteller Patrick Ryan has travelled the world collecting stories and riddles and silly rhymes that are great for sharing at this time of year. A collection of forgotten stories for all ages, full of fun, silliness and adventure.


Saturday 11 December Creative Creations 2.30pm

ReCreate will help you and your adult assistant to head on a treasure hunt to find natural and human made items. Use these items during the workshop to inspire a unique and festive indoor wreath.


Tuesday 14 December 3.30pm Winter Feast Family DrawALong 

Draw along with illustrator Margaret Anne Suggs! Mags will show you some fun tricks to drawing all kinds of Christmassy and Wintery things – from steamy hot chocolates and gingerbread men to snowmen and Christmas trees.


Thursday 16 December 3.30pm More Warm Tales for Cold Days

Storyteller Patrick Ryan will share more stories and riddles and silly rhymes from around the world. Enjoy stories that are suitable for all ages and re-telling to chase away the cold and dark this Midwinter.

Saturday 18 December 2.30pm Unique Yule

ReCreate will show families how make a unique Yuletide chandelier to hang at home for the festive season and beyond. The participants will be provided with a pack of materials that will be supplied and carefully selected from ReCreate and collection will be arranged from your local dlr library.


Monday 20 December 3.30pm Happy Christmas Pigín Family DrawAlong

Margaret Anne Suggs, the illustrator of the Pigín series, will show you how to draw lots of Christmas things. Mags will share her tips and tricks for drawing parcels, wreaths, robins, snowflakes, and more to use on Christmas cards. All you need are drawing paper and coloured markers.
