Summer Stars 2018 drew to a close in dlr Libraries with celebratory events in our branches during September. As well as all of the rewards along the way, each branch chose three winners at random from all those who read at least eight books over the summer months. A total of 24 branch winners were then invited to attend a special prize-giving ceremony in dlr LexIcon on Saturday, 6 October, where they all received prizes from An Cathaoirleach Cllr Ossian Smyth. We'd like to take this opportunity to thank all of those who sponsored prizes on the day - IMC Dún Laoghaire, Nimble Fingers in Stillorgan, Jump Zone in Sandyford and dlr Leisure Services. A huge thank you also to Brambles Café who supplied goodie bags for our prize-winners and their families on the day!

We're delighted to report that this year 2,546 children took part in the Summer Stars Reading Challenge in dlr Libraries! This is a 47% increase on last year's participants, and more than 24,000 books were read during the Challenge. We're already looking forward to getting more children involved next year!
