dlr Libraries’ monthly Sensory Sessions are tailored for neurodiverse children and their families. One adult guardian is required to attend with a child/children and can feel free to join in the fun.

dlr Libraries will also have an area set up with a selection of sensory toys and equipment. Should children need time to self-regulate, there will be space and time to do so.

Sensory Sessions with Senseable Kids

Join SENSEable Kids for these sessions, designed for neurodiverse young people. The child will get to explore a multitude of sensory materials following their natural curiosity and their thirst for knowledge. The session is designed to provide a fun, supportive environment where the parent can follow the child’s lead in what order they want to do the activities. All of the materials are taste-safe and nut-free.

Sensory Sessions: Sensory Music with Mary O'Donnell from Music Generation

Designed for neurodivergent children, these sensory music sessions are suitable for ages 4-12 years (with accompanying adult). Each child will explore the wonderful world of sound and music in a relaxed and fun environment. The sessions will include listening to music, playing a carefully-chosen selection of tactile instruments, and will incorporate other sensory elements to enhance the creative experience for all attendees. 

Note: Attendees are free to stay for as long as they feel comfortable and may leave with their parent/guardian at any time during the session.
