The Cat and the Devil

The Cat and the Devil
Event Description

My dear Stevie: I sent you a little cat filled with sweets a few days ago but perhaps you do not know the story about the cat of Beaugency”. This delightful opening comes from a letter written by James Joyce to his four‑year‑old grandson Stephen (“Stevie”). The story, commonly known as The Cat and the Devil (also called The Cat of Beaugency), is a playful, imaginative tale full of wit, mischief and charm. Following the success of last year’s performances, this engaging adaptation returns as part of dlr Libraries’ celebrations for Bloomsday Festival 2026, in partnership with the James Joyce Tower and Museum. An enjoyable introduction to Joyce for primary schoolchildren, full of humour and storytelling.
