Red King Chess Workshops and Tournament 

Celebrate International Chess Day with Red King Chess! 

Workshop One: Pawn to King  

Tues 21 July, 2.30-5.30pm  

In this first session we will learn the rules for all the pieces on the chess board. By the end of Day One you will know how to play with the Pawn, Rook, Knight, Bishop, King and Queen.

Workshop Two: Checkmate!  

Wed 22 July, 2.30-5.30pm  

During this session we will study check and checkmate, some tricks and tactics, and we will learn how to use the Chess Clock! By the end of Day Two you will be able to play a full game of chess.  

Tournament*  

Thurs 23 July, 2.30-5.30pm  

Tournament Time. Test your chess skills against the best players in Dún Laoghaire in our 6-round Swiss tournament. Who will be the King or Queen of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown?  

*Please note: The tournament is only suitable for people who have attended the first two sessions or those who already know how to play a full game of chess.  
 

This workshop is suitable for ages 7 - 14 years
