Fadó Fadó, Storytelling Festival
Join dlr Libraries this October for our brand-new storytelling festival, delivering some of Ireland’s finest storytellers for adults, young people and school classes to enjoy. Events will take place across our libraries from 22- 28 October
The focus this inaugural year is very much on traditional Irish storytelling with tellers from all corners of Ireland. Booking required for some events. Please read more below.

Maria Gillen: The Story That Was Never Told
In this workshop we will explore listening - not just with our ears, but with our hearts and spirits as well. If you listen to stories in between the lines, what will you hear? If you find the right kind of stillness will you hear the stones sing?

Storyteller Órla Mc Govern brings us a set of water stories… magical wells, lakes with spells and wonders of the seas – tales for the whole family!

Maria Gillen: The Red Thread of Story
Did you know that storytelling in Ireland stretches back across the Millennia to our ancestors that lived in Druid times? It affords us the ability to cast word spells creating pictures in the minds of our listeners. When things get very magical in a story Maria often finds herself drifting into the Teanga Draíochta - the magical language of Irish.

Liz Weir: Banshees, Selkies and Tales of The Otherworld

Join award winning storyteller Liz Weir as she shares traditional tales of magic, fairies and mermaids, while tossing in some humorous yarns for good measure
