Welcome to dlr Scéal Trails, an initiative of dlr Libraries. New for Summer 2022 we have two brand new Scéal Trails to be discovered in dlr County. Kindly supported by the Creative Ireland Programme.

You are invited to follow the stories, page by page, from beginning to end, just like a book, as you walk with your family and friends. There are 13 boards for you to find and read on your walk in Cabinteely Park and 14 boards to discover in Bracken Road Parklet, Sandyford.

Dodos are Not extinct from author and illustrator, Paddy Donnelly.

Psst! Hey you! Can you keep a secret? Dodos are NOT extinct! In fact, if you look extra closely, you might be able to spot other extinct animals . . . like woolly mammoths, saber-toothed tigers, and even dinosaurs! These famous creatures are in disguise everywhere, so keep your eyes peeled! You never know who might be right under your nose. There are 14 boards of Dodos are Not extinct Scéal Trail for you to discover on your walk in Bracken Road Park.

With thanks to YeeHoo Press for permission to use as a dlr Scéal Trail.

Paddy Donnelly is an Irish illustrator and author living in Belgium. He has illustrated 11 picture books, and his debut author illustrated picture book, The Vanishing Lake, was part of the Scéal Trail in 2021. His work has achieved international acclaim as he was nominated for the CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal 2022 and shortlisted for The World Illustration Awards. With a fondness for illustrating the sea and animals, Paddy loves working in a textured, painterly approach, and tries to inject a touch of humour to his work wherever he can. He wishes Pluto was still a planet.

dlr Libraries hosted Paddy's book The Vanishing Lake as a Scéal Trail in Dundrum Library outdoor space, in Bracken Road Parklet, Sandyford as well as in dlr LexIcon during 2021.
