Summer Stars National Reading Adventure 2020

Summer Stars is the public library national summer reading programme for children that runs from the 15th of June until the end of August. All children throughout the country are invited to join the adventure and to enjoy the fun and pleasure of reading and writing over the summer. Summer Stars is non-competitive and every child who reads even one book is regarded as having completed the programme – and it’s all completely free!

Summer Stars 2020 is coming, we hope you are as excited as we are! We are busy planning a fun and varied programme that will entice even the most reluctant reader to become involved!

While libraries are not fully open just yet there are still lots of ways to use our services, be it via, ‘Bag a Book’ our new click and collect service, or online resources such as downloadable books and audio books, not to mention some fantastic online events to be involved with including story times and live readings, book clubs, quizzes, treasure hunts, author interviews and that’s just for starters!

We hope you will become involved and if you need some tips to get your child reading, there are some great pointers here. If book reviews created by children themselves are what you are interested in you will find plenty here.

Please keep an eye on our website and our social media channels where we will be sharing all of our plans for Summer Stars 2020 very soon.
