Aftershock by Liz McSkeane – Author Reading and Historical Fiction Discussion
Join novelist Liz McSkeane for a reading from her acclaimed historical novel Aftershock, set in the aftermath of the catastrophic 1755 Lisbon earthquake. The novel explores power, ambition, and the human cost of rebuilding a shattered nation, through the rise of the formidable Marquis of Pombal. The evening will include a discussion and Q&A on the craft of writing historical fiction — from research and shaping real events into narrative, to creating voice, character, and dramatic tension from the past. An Introduction to Landscape and Deep Sky Astrophotography
As part of Irish Astronomy week, join us for an introduction to the world of Astrophotography, given by Reach for the Stars 2025 winner Liam Reddall.
Participants will be guided through the basic forms of Astrophotography, from capturing images of deep space nebulae and galaxies to incorporating the night sky and it's wonders into landscapes, featuring both space and our own environment.
