Lego Competition news and winners 2020

On Friday 18th September we awarded our Lego prizewinners 2020 their prizes, with the help of An Cathaoirleach Councillor Una Power and Elaine Bowden from Bricks4 Kidz, South County Dublin.

A huge congratulations to our winners but also to all 23 children that entered the competition and livened up the children's library in dlr LexIcon from Wed 16th to Friday 18th September. While we didn't have as many entries to our competition as in previous years,  we were delighted to see the 23 builds arriving! The standard, flair, imagination and skill were all of a very high standard and it was a

Plays in the Park

During the months of October and November 2020, dlr LexIcon has planned a series entitled Plays in the Park, supported by Creative Ireland funding. The plays will be performed in Moran Park for the most part, beside the Library. We will be collaborating with artistes who have worked with us before so we know that audiences will be entertained and stimulated. It is an important step towards providing a measure of confidence for community audiences and opportunities for artistes to perform for live audiences again. Some of the performances will also be live-streamed.

Performances are advertised

A New Mural in the grounds of The Oratory of the Sacred Heart, Dún Laoghaire

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council marked the Decade of Centenaries Programme in 2019 with a celebration of The Oratory of the Sacred Heart, built on the grounds of St. Mary's Dominican Convent in 1919. The Oratory was hand-painted by Sister Concepta Lynch over a period of 16 years from 1920-1936 and the result is a stunning example of the Celtic Revival style. The celebrations in 2019 included a large exhibition at dlr LexIcon, a new book entitled Divine Illumination published by New Island Books, a redesigned exhibition at the Oratory on Library Road
