Foxrock Local History Society Talk: Tracing the former manor of Clonkeen across modern townlands
The south county Dublin place name, Clonkeen, Cluain Caoin, is of an early origin and pre-dates later local townland names such as Deansgrange and Kill of the Grange that have partly replaced it.The name is generally associated with St Fintan, or Fiontan, of Clonkeen, to whom the ruined medieval church at Kill of the Grange was dedicated. In the twelfth century the area was the property of the Augustinian priory of Holy Trinity, Dublin, whose cathedral church was commonly known as Christ Church. From the thirteenth to the sixteenth century its property was referred to as the manor of Clonkeen. Join speaker Martin McCarthy talk in an attempt to trace the extent of the manor lands by reference to historical records and maps.
