Join visual artist Caroline Schofield, who will facilitate a series of talks with invited artists and others, exploring their projects, activities and the role of art in care, community and later life.

In this first session, Caroline will share stories from her work with older people and in palliative care, with a creative participatory activity offering an opportunity to explore some of these ideas together. About Caroline Schofield

Caroline Schofield is a visual artist whose practice is rooted in collaboration, participation and the exchange of skills, ideas and stories. Working across Arts & Health, community and later-life settings, the work creates spaces for creativity, connection and shared experience, with a particular interest in wellbeing, lived experience and the role of art in everyday life.

As an Arts & Health artist at the South East Palliative Care Centre, managed by Réalta, and at St Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny, her practice brings creative engagement into healthcare environments. Her work at St Luke’s is supported by the Susie Long Hospice Fund, following the Art by Their Side residency with the Irish Hospice Foundation.

Projects with older people include Art at the Kitchen Table and Studio with Réalta, and Open Gallery, a visual art looking programme that brings paintings onto the wards of University Hospital Waterford, inviting patients to pause, look and engage. She also facilitates the Visual Arts Strand of Creative Exchanges & is a Azure facilitator & trainer with Age & Opportunity.

Session 2: Monday 30 November, 11.00am – 1.00pm

Join artists Caroline Hyland and Kim Jenkinson who will share their recent experience of Making Space, a collaborative project with Living Well with Dementia. This session will include art making and discussion. Funded by a Creative Ireland dlr Project Award, Making Space provided the artists with time and space to explore and enrichen their creative practices working with a Living Well with Dementia art group.

Session 3: Monday 11 January, 11.00am – 1.00pm

Artist John Conway will share his experiences working with Palliative Care services in Naas General Hospital, supported by the Creative Communities Kildare programme. Further details to follow closer to the time.
