***Update - All camp places have now been filled***

dlr Libraries’ are delighted to partner once again with both Lisa Redmond of Active Kids Academy and Laura Steerman Art to bring you an exciting two-hour summer camp in dlr Lexicon specifically for neurodiverse children.

The camp will focus on fun and skill development through art, games, activities, and inclusion while also working on life skills including fine and gross motor skills, communication, imagination, creativity, hand-eye coordination, balance, and agility. All of this and more will be packed into our camp where every child is encouraged to be themselves and have fun in an inclusive environment, working and playing at their own pace, and in a manner that suits their needs. Whilst structured activities will be offered, children are free to engage at a comfortable level for them.

Numbers are strictly limited and a cancellation list will be in operation. See below for details of the camp.

Active Kids Academy have a huge amount of experience, understanding and knowledge which enables them to provide camps, activities and games which are inclusive and specific to needs. The activity part of camp will include obstacle courses, bouncy castle, parachute fun, free play, building and lots more. There will be something for every child to enjoy with a sensory area also available for participants.

Artist Laura Steerman is a solicitor turned painter and founder of www.QuaintBabyArt.com with the goal to create colourful artworks accessible to all by celebrating diversity, family journeys and creativity. Laura will set up ‘Invitation to Create’ art stations for children to make interactive, adaptable art that allows them to be messy, colourful and enjoy a free play creative experience which can also be tailored to each of their interests, including options for those who prefer not to touch paint eg. salt art craft where we paint with a dropper. Old clothes are recommended, and aprons can be provided to children who are comfortable wearing them.

If offered a place, parents/guardians must complete and return their child’s Summer Camp passport in advance. The information will be used to ensure that all children are at ease, engaged and catered for to the highest standards. All information will be disposed of after the camp ends.
