Join dlr Libraries this October for the second year of our annual storytelling festival; Fadó Fadó, delivering some of Ireland’s finest storytellers for adults, young people and school classes to enjoy. Events will take place across our libraries from 20 October - 4 November

 

Festival Highlights:

Family Storytelling: Raquel McKee

Saturday, 21 October

3-4.00pm, dlr LexIcon (Level 4)

Audience: 4+ years

No booking required, all welcome!

Joining us from Co. Antrim, Raquel is a storyteller, actor, award-winning poet and singer/songwriter. She brings a broad repertoire of stories to entertain us.

 

Sweetshop on the Shore: Kate Corkery

Monday, 23 October

6.30-7.45pm, Studio, dlr LexIcon

Audience: Adults

Booking required via dlr Libraries Eventbrite

As the River Lee ebbs and flows nearby, regular customers come and go to a small sweet shop that is at the heart of that community. The stories they share linger in her imagination and grow a life of their own.

Spells, Wells, and other Magical Tells! - Órla McGovern

For Samhain, Storyteller Órla McGovern weaves together a set of stories full of magic and wonder - for listeners 4 - 8 and grown ups who have an inner 4 - 8 year old!

Listen! Can you hear it? Listen carefully can you hear it. That's the sound of the waves whispering... With the greeting an old fisherman opens up a treasure trove of stories whispered on the waves of the wide sea.

 

The Little Gold Ring: A Legend of The Spanish Armada by Colin Urwin

This performance merges storytelling, music, song, verse and will take you on a journey of wonder and tug at your heart strings. Colin Urwin is a folk singer, storyteller and songwriter from County Antrim.

Described as 'keeping alive the tradition of the Seanchaí', Colin Urwin is a folk singer, songwriter and storyteller from Co. Antrim. As well as his beautifully woven stories drawn from the local legend and folklore of his beloved Glens of Antrim, Colin tells many traditional Irish and Scottish folk tales. A magical afternoon awaits!

Pat Speight (aka Pat the Hat) specialises in traditional Irish Tales, Folk Tales from the fireplaces of Ireland. Pat has stories galore about animals and birds, Kings and warriors, saints and sinners, witches and magicians, pickpockets and ghosts, fairies and mermaids and mythical characters that inspire and captivate the imagination. Join us for this wonderful festival finale of the 2023 Fadó Fadó Storytelling Festival!
