Snow Crash

A science fiction/cyberpunk thriller set in a dystopian near future about a computer hacker. The book was written in 1992 but the characters access a kind of metaverse with their avatars, so it's obviously way ahead of its time and most likely where Meta /Facebook and the like got the current metaverse idea from. The book is a real page turner with loads of interesting ideas and material covered in it. Recommended.

Gathering Moss

I have had this book on my bedside table for a while and now I wish I had got around to reading it sooner. To anyone (and this includes me) who tends to think of moss as merely something that you need to scrape off the patio, this book is an eye-opener. dlr Libraries’ are delighted to partner once again with both Lisa Redmond of Active Kids Academy and Laura Steerman Art to bring you an exciting two-hour summer camp in dlr Lexicon specifically for neurodiverse children.

The camp will focus on fun and skill development through art, games, activities, and inclusion while also working on life skills including fine and gross motor skills, communication, imagination, creativity, hand-eye coordination, balance, and agility. Gerald Dawe - Poet, Writer and Academic

Gerald Dawe 22 April 1952 - 29 May 2024

The staff of dlr Libraries were saddened to hear of the death of distinguished poet, writer and academic, Gerald Dawe. 
Gerald was a highly regarded artist and scholar, a Fellow Emeritus of Trinity College Dublin (TCD), and the 28th recipient of the Lawrence O'Shaughnessy Prize for Poetry, awarded in 2024.

Gerald Dawe was a good friend and supporter of dlr Libraries. In 2023, we were delighted to receive a significant donation from Gerald to add to our collection. Gerald donated 1116 items from his personal library to dlr LexIcon including his own poetry

Puppets in July at dlr LexIcon 2024

“Puppets in July” will bring the magic and engaging artistry of puppetry to new audiences in dlr LexIcon, Dún Laoghaire this summer. A lively programme is planned over three weekends in July with a mix of Irish puppeteers and puppeteers visiting from Bulgaria, Spain and Italy. This programme will include Allegro Vivace, brought to us by the Bulgarian Varna State Puppet Theatre, Mamulengo puppetry from Trapusteros Teatro visiting us from Spain with a type of puppet performance popular in Northeast Brazil, and Gianlucca di Matteo
