You have all summer long to write a short story about Summer. Write about something that happened during your holidays or make up a completely new story! Get writing and be a Summer Star. Need some inspiration? Get reading! All great writers love to read.
Email or hand in your piece to library staff before Fri 22 August to be in with a chance to win a One 4 All voucher worth €25. Entries must be between 200-800 words and will be displayed in the library for all to enjoy during September!

Chess Season at Deansgrange Library!
We will then begin our weekly games sessions throughout July and August on Thursdays. Come and be part of a community that shares a passion for this great game. Engage in friendly matches, sharpen your skills, and connect with fellow chess enthusiasts. We'll provide the chess sets, some books and information to help you improve your skills, as well as an occasional observer to help move the games along!
Deansgrange Library will have boards set up and our chess master Paul Cassidy on hand to observe, advise and assist on game play and strategy and give tips for all players.

Build a Fort with Newspaper
Bring the whole family to Deansgrange Library to construct the best newspaper fort ever! We'll have tons of paper rolls ready for you to start building as soon as you arrive. Put your engineering skills to the test and see how big a fort your group can build. Will it stand on its own? Can you fit inside? Challenge your team to find the soundest structure you can make out of only newspaper, then take it apart and try something new.
Suitable for ages 4 yrs+ (little ones may need help!)

Crochet Starfish with Olga
Join Olga for a fun summer crochet workshop for adults and learn how to make a beautiful and colourful starfish. Bring your own crochet hook and wool scraps that you have at home. Basic crochet skills are required for this workshop, and booking is essential.

Sensory Sessions: Active Academy for Teens
Active Academy are delighted to partner with dlr Libraries again this summer, bringing an inclusive area for teenagers to hang out with or alongside others while sharing their interests. Activities include reading zones, Lego, board games, art, beauty and fitness. The sessions are flexible and can be adapted to include any special interests or new things that the teenagers may like to try or share.
*Please note these sessions are aimed at members of the neurodiverse community.
