dlr Libraries Christmas opening hours

dlr Library staff would like to wish all of our users and readers a very Happy Christmas and New Year.

All dlr Library branches will close at 5pm on Friday 23rd December. Dundrum and dlr LexIcon libraries will be open on Weds 28th, Thursday 29th and Friday 30th December (please see opening times). All libraries will close Sat 31st Dec to Monday 2nd January. All libraries will re-open as normal from Tuesday 3rd January 2017.

Remember all library items, including books, audio and DVDS, can be renewed and reserved online via our website. There are many online services on our website that can be

Carnegie Cinema Club, Blackrock Library

Blackrock library’s first ever film club will show exclusive monthly screenings of arthouse and indie films, as well as classics of cinema, outstanding Irish movies, solid dramas, inventive animation, eye-opening documentaries, intelligent comedies, and cult film favourites. If that wasn’t enough, we will also have guest directors, and even some Irish premieres.

Apart from the films, this is a ‘club’ like no other. Structured like a traditional film club, every screening will open with an Introduction, and will be followed by an open discussion with the audience –a unique experience, which will

Family Day dlr LexIcon

Our first Family Day of the year will take place on Saturday 14th January from 10.30am-5pm. 
Get the year off to a fun-filled start! No booking required, first come, first served for all events.
Events will take place in various locations around the LexIcon.

New Carnegie Cinema Club in Blackrock Library

Introducing the ‘Carnegie Cinema Club’ Blackrock Library's new Film Club. dlr Libraries are delighted to introduce this new pilot initiative from January 2017. The first seasons’ programme will be selected under the guidance of experienced film club facilitator, Anne Legarreta. The ’Carnegie Cinema Club’, will be a monthly cinema Club for those interested in world, art house and alternative film. Come along to Blackrock Library's reading room and feast your eyes on our specially chosen film choices. We encourage discussion post film and community involvement in the Club.

dlr Writer in Residence news

Sarah Webb is dlr Writer in Residence for 2016-2017 and her residency has a particular focus on children and young people. If you would like to keep up to date with her activities, read her dlr writer blog on her website www.sarahwebb.ie and pick up a flier in any dlr library.

Positive Parenting in dlr Libraries

dlr Libraries offer a number of talks this spring that focus on supporting parents. Come along to hear experts talk on a range of subjects in Dalkey, Shankill and Blackrock libraries. Positive Parenting week in dlr LexIcon runs from 6-9 March 2017. We will have free evening talks for parents covering nutrition, online safety, negotiating social media, a panel discussion on raising children in the digital age, as well as a talk on effective communication. All very welcome.
