My Open Library
My Open Library is coming to Deansgrange!
My Open Library offers extended opening hours to library members on a self-service basis outside normal opening hours, seven days a week, from 8am to 10pm, 365 days a year. There are no staff present when My Open Library service is in operation. Opening hours with library staff are as normal.
Already in operation in some libraries across Ireland, My Open Library will become available to Deansgrange Library from Monday 12th November. Library members must be 16 years of age or over to avail of the service.

Freegal free music streaming
NEW! Freegal® is a free music streaming service now available from DLR Libraries. This new service is available to registered DLR library members with a valid library card and PIN. Freegal offers access to 15 million songs, including Sony Music’s catalogue of legendary artists, and over 40,000 music videos. Please log in HERE with your DLR library card and PIN. Alternatively you can download the Freegal app from the Apple App Store, the Google Play Store, and on Amazon.

Remember all library items, including books, CDs and DVDs, can be renewed and reserved online via our website. There are many online services on our website that can be accessed 24 hours/365 days a year, including downloadable ebooks and audio books, magazine and newspaper access, research and learning portals, as well as our new music streaming service Freegal. Just make sure you have your library card number and PIN!

Removal of fines in all dlr Libraries from 1st January 2019
From 1st January 2019, public library members across Ireland will not have to pay fines for overdue items and no existing fines will be collected. All overdue fines on members’ accounts as of this date will also be removed. However, no fines does not mean no responsibility! Members will continue to receive reminders and overdue emails to prompt them to return items to their library and are asked to return items on or before their due date to allow them to be borrowed by other library users.
With fines now abolished, dlr Libraries are encouraging all residents in the County to make a New Year’s
Autism friendly events in dlr Libraries
During 2019 we want to make dlr Libraries an even friendlier and more accessible place to everyone in our community. Libraries are often the bustling heart of our communities with lots going on at any given time, from events to book clubs not to mention beeps from IT equipment. We are aware for those with Autism or ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) the noise and sensory overload in many public places, even libraries can be overwhelming. With this in mind are introducing new Autism friendly initiatives in our libraries during 2019.

Family Day in dlr LexIcon is arriving with the Spring on Saturday 2 February!
This fun filled celebration of the Chinese New Year with a special Irish twist will have parent and toddler yoga, kite making workshops, springtime storytelling, concerts and rhythm workshops, art workshops, virtual reality as well as dragon and lion dancers to celebrate the New Year of the Pig, not to be missed!
Centenary of the Dominican Oratory of the Sacred Heart, Dún Laoghaire
As part of the Decade of Centenaries, dlr Libraries and dlr Heritage Office plan to celebrate the centenary of the Dominican Oratory of the Sacred Heart (located along Library Road, Dún Laoghaire) with an exhibition in dlr LexIcon and accompanying publication.
Created to mark the end of WWI and to commemorate the many local Irishmen who had fought and died on the Western Front, the Oratory, built in 1919, was hand-painted by Sister M. Concepta Lynch between the years 1920-36. The stunning result is a highly-regarded masterpiece of the Gaelic Revival style. The windows were provided by the Harry
