Quiet Tuesdays in Cabinteely Library
Our aim is to make dlr Libraries an even friendlier and more accessible place to everyone in our community. Libraries are often the bustling heart of our communities with lots going on at any given time, from events to book clubs not to mention beeps from IT equipment. We are aware for some members of our community the noise and sensory overload in many public places, even libraries, can be overwhelming.
In Cabinteely Library, we are learning different ways in which we can make the library more accessible to all of our users. On Tuesday evenings we will have:

Dún Laoghaire LexIcon
dlr LexIcon is an award-winning building on five floors. Opened in 2015, it is the biggest and most visited public library in Ireland with an average of 1,300 visitors every day.
With 135,000+ items in the adult, junior and local history libraries, 60+ computers, 159 study spaces, a floor dedicated to Local Studies and an Irish author collection, as well as the dlr Municipal Gallery managed by dlr Arts Office, there is plenty to discover at the LexIcon.

Blackrock Library
Blackrock Library
Blackrock Library is situated in the heart of Blackrock in a beautifully restored 1905 Carnegie building which retains many original features. The library was fully renovated in 2014 and includes a mezzanine study area and an attractive Reading Room which hosts a range of activities for all ages. We have a very interesting local history collection along with our extensive adult and children’s stock, plus sensory toys to use in the library.

Dalkey Library
Dalkey Library is situated In the centre of the village. The Library is our second My Open Library (MOL) branch. Alongside the adult and junior sections, the Library contains a study area, a music room, a meeting room and the Maeve Binchy garden.

Cabinteely Library
Cabinteely Library is a renovated Carnegie building built in 1912 to the designs of the celebrated architect Rudolph Maximilian Butler who also designed Dundrum and Shankill Libraries. Built in the then fashionable Arts and Crafts style it is beautifully situated in a large garden in the middle of Cabinteely village. Its red and blue tiled roof, leaded windows and copper cupola make it a distinctive local landmark. The garden is surrounded by its original granite walls with two cast iron gates from which two paths lead to the main entrance. This has a distinctive dressed
