Curator Archivist in Residence
We are delighted to welcome David Gunning to dlr LexIcon as our inaugural Curator Archivist. David will be preparing a strategy for archival collections in the Local Studies Department at dlr LexIcon and working on a number of key projects, including advising on potential digitisation initiatives.
dlr Writer in Residence 2018-19
Congratulations to our new dlr Writer in Residence 2018-19, Sarah Maria Griffin who will join us at dlr LexIcon at the beginning of July. Her first novel, Spare and Found Parts won the European Science Fiction Awards Chrysalis Award in 2017 and her collection of essays about emigration, Not Lost, was published by New Island in 2013. Her non-fiction has appeared on Buzzfeed, The Rumpus, Guts, Winter Pages and she writes a weekly podcast column for The Irish Times. Bloomsday 2018 at dlr Libraries
Join us for the lead-in to Bloomsday for three very different events that will prepare you for June 16th 2018!
On June 13th at 6.45pm dlr LexIcon will show Dublin Only, a 42 minute film by Piotr Sadowski which features a day in the life of Dublin. Piotr is a lecturer in film, literature and drama in Dublin Business School and a Joycean scholar and enthusiast. We are delighted to have the Irish premier of Dublin Only in the Studio Theatre, dlr LexIcon. All welcome, free event and no booking necessary. The event will include an introduction and Q&A plus refreshments.

dlr Libraries host the launch of the National Public Library Strategy 2018-2022
Michael Ring, T.D. Minister for Rural and Community Development will be in attendance with our newly elected Cathaoirleach Ossian Smyth to officially launch the National Public Library Strategy 2018- 2022 at the dlr LexIcon.
The new strategy will underpin the continued development of public libraries and position them at the centre of the community, meeting the information, learning and cultural needs of all citizens. This ambitious five year strategy will see fines abolished and opening hours extended. It will also continue to enhance digital and technology capacity across the library

We are delighted to announce that the 2018 series of dlr Library Voices marks a decade of this wonderful series, originally conceived, and curated since 2008 by the inimitable Bert Wright. To highlight the astonishing range of remarkable authors and moderators who have entertained and stimulated us over the last ten years, we have produced a souvenir brochure which will be available in all dlr Libraries from September.
