Curator Archivist in Residence
We are delighted to welcome David Gunning to dlr LexIcon as our inaugural Curator Archivist. David will be preparing a strategy for archival collections in the Local Studies Department at dlr LexIcon and working on a number of key projects, including advising on potential digitisation initiatives.
dlr Writer in Residence 2018-19
Congratulations to our new dlr Writer in Residence 2018-19, Sarah Maria Griffin who will join us at dlr LexIcon at the beginning of July. Her first novel, Spare and Found Parts won the European Science Fiction Awards Chrysalis Award in 2017 and her collection of essays about emigration, Not Lost, was published by New Island in 2013. Her non-fiction has appeared on Buzzfeed, The Rumpus, Guts, Winter Pages and she writes a weekly podcast column for The Irish Times. Bloomsday 2018 at dlr Libraries
Join us for the lead-in to Bloomsday for three very different events that will prepare you for June 16th 2018!
On June 13th at 6.45pm dlr LexIcon will show Dublin Only, a 42 minute film by Piotr Sadowski which features a day in the life of Dublin. Piotr is a lecturer in film, literature and drama in Dublin Business School and a Joycean scholar and enthusiast. We are delighted to have the Irish premier of Dublin Only in the Studio Theatre, dlr LexIcon. All welcome, free event and no booking necessary. The event will include an introduction and Q&A plus refreshments.

dlr Libraries host the launch of the National Public Library Strategy 2018-2022
Michael Ring, T.D. Minister for Rural and Community Development will be in attendance with our newly elected Cathaoirleach Ossian Smyth to officially launch the National Public Library Strategy 2018- 2022 at the dlr LexIcon.
The new strategy will underpin the continued development of public libraries and position them at the centre of the community, meeting the information, learning and cultural needs of all citizens. This ambitious five year strategy will see fines abolished and opening hours extended. It will also continue to enhance digital and technology capacity across the library
Cruinniú na nÓg a day of youthful creativity and family fun at dlr LexIcon
Join us in dlr LexIcon from 10am to 5pm on Saturday 23 June for family fun throughout the day. From circus skills to Bollywood dancing, yoga to LEGO, and drawing to percussion - you're sure to find something to interest you at dlr Cruinniú na nÓg!
We'll also be launching this year's Summer Stars reading challenge on this family fun day. You can pick up your Summer Stars reading card on the day and start your summer reading. You'll receive a stamp for every book you read over the summer and pick up some gifts along the way. And at the end of the summer you'll be in with a chance to win one of
What's On in dlr Libraries, July-Sept 2018
dlr Libraries latest programme of events, What's On: July-September 2018 is now available both online and in your local dlr Library.
The programme has a great line-up of events, talks, exhibitions, workshops and much more, with something that will appeal to all ages.
Look out for some seasonal highlights including our Summer Stars Reading programme for children, with events happening in every dlr Library as well as great prizes and rewards to be won. Cruinniú na nÓg, a great day in dlr LexIcon on Saturday 23rd June
dlr LexIcon celebrated Cruinniú na nÓg, a day of celebration of creativity and youth with a wonderful Family Day that also launched our dlr Libraries Summer Stars reading programme for children for 2018.
Lego, Bollywood dancing, salsa and hip hop, yoga story time, drawing and craft workshops, music workshops, circus skills and our favourite mime artist Marcel so What as well as the Tallest Lady stilt walker, all entertained us last Saturday 23rd June 2018. Lego Competition 2018
We will be hosting another competition; for all ages, including adults!
We will display the wonderful Lego builds we receive on Culture Night at dlr LexIcon on Friday 21 September.
The theme for this year’s competition is:
‘Design your ideal play space using Lego’

We are delighted to announce that the 2018 series of dlr Library Voices marks a decade of this wonderful series, originally conceived, and curated since 2008 by the inimitable Bert Wright.
