Call for Curator Archivist at dlr LexIcon = Extension of Deadline
Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council invites applications for a part-time Curator Archivist at dlr LexIcon, Dún Laoghaire for the period April 2018 to March 2019. This Curator Archivist will be managed by dlr Libraries at dlr LexIcon and will be based in the Reading Room of the Local Studies Dept. on Level 5, dlr LexIcon. The fee for this part-time post is €23,500 and the closing date has been extended until 5pm on Weds 7th March
Home Energy Savings Kit now available from dlr libraries
Today, An Cathaoirleach, Councillor Tom Murphy launched the Home Energy Saving Kits, which is promoted in partnership with the dlr Energy Team, dlr Libraries and Codema.
Energy Savings Kits will help householders better understand their energy use and reduce their bills. The six tools in the kit address key areas of energy use in the home - space heating, hot water and electricity consumption - and can identify common issues such as lack of insulation, poor ventilation and the appliances that might be driving up electricity bills.
Healthy Ireland at Your Library - survey
Healthy Ireland, a Government-led initiative, is the national strategy to improve health and wellbeing, placing a focus on prevention, individual awareness and keeping people healthy for longer.
dlr Libraries are currently participating in the nationwide Healthy Ireland at Your Library programme which aims to establish libraries as a valuable source within the community for health information.
Funding granted by Healthy Ireland has enhanced health and wellbeing book collections (digital and hardcopy), and provided for staff training, events, and promotion.

Closure of dlr Libraries 28 Feb - 4 March
All dlr Libraries will close at 3.30pm on Wednesday, 28 February due to forecasts of severe weather over the coming days. All libraries are due to open again as normal on Monday, 5 March.
Don't forget you can access a whole host of library services online - downloadable books, audio-books, magazines, newspapers. You could learn a new language or start an online law course! All you need is your library card number and your 4-digit PIN.
What's On in dlr Libraries, April-June 2018
dlr Libraries latest programme of events, What's On, April-June is now available! The programme has a great array of events, talks, exhibitions, workshops, recitals and much more, with something that will appeal to all ages. Look out for some seasonal highlights including One City One Book events during April, Bealtaine events during May, many schools events, especially as we launch Summer Reading in June. There are also a great selection of creative workshops, LexIcon lab, early years events and as ever a wonderful programme from the Municipal gallery via dlr Arts Office.
The Good Friday Agreement, a lecture with Tim Pat Coogan
Renowned historian and author Tim Pat Coogan will give a lecture in Dalkey Library next Tuesday evening, 10 April at 7pm. The subject of the lecture will be The Good Friday Agreement, signed in Belfast on Good Friday, 10 April 1998. Tim Pat is the author of many titles on Irish history and politics including The IRA, Ireland since the Rising, and On the Blanket.
All are welcome to what is sure to be a thoroughly engaging talk.
Call for Writer in Residence
Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council invites applications for a Writer in Residence for the period July 2018 to June 2019. This Writer in Residence is managed by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Library service at dlr LexIcon.
The residency is open to writers working in any genre (fiction, non-fiction, poetry etc). The residency this year will have a broad focus on History/Herstory with a possible emphasis on commemorating local aspects of the Decade of Centenaries 2012-2022. The writer’s work may draw inspiration from this theme in a variety of ways and an intergenerational approach would be of
