Ulysses 100: Tales from the Tower

Thanks to the Friends of Joyce Tower, we can listen back to their talk at dlr LexIcon as part of the celebrations for Ulysses 100. Taking part are Seamus Cannon, Vivien Igoe, Robert Nicholson and Eoin O'Quirke, chatting about memories and highlights of their time curating the Joyce Tower for the last 60 years. The talk was held on 1 February 2022.

Peter Pearson at the LexIcon, 23rd March 22

Peter Pearson is well-known as a passionate advocate for the conservation of Ireland's architectural heritage and also as a historian and highly regarded painter. He is the author of numerous publications including Dún Laoghaire/Kingstown and Between the Mountains and the Sea. His new book The Granite Coast (O'Brien Press) will be published later in 2022. This exhibition is a celebration of his wide-ranging work.

It is a celebration of over 150 years of women’s writing, featuring important titles of classic literature that will now be made available to a new generation.
We heard from Caitríona Clear (on Kate O’Brien and Annie Smithson), Catherine Dunne (A Name for Himself), Marian Thérèse Keyes (on Anna Maria Hall), Lia Mills (Another Alice) and Arlen House publisher Alan Hayes.
Czech Heroines & Good 100 Launch 17th May 2022

What is ADHD and what it isn't, a talk with Ken Kilbride, CEO of ADHD Ireland

This talk for parents of children with ADHD and adults with ADHD alike will explain what is ADHD and will also explode some of the popular myths and misconceptions around this condition, which affects 5% of the population. Think of it as a crash course in the condition!
Ken Kilbride is the CEO at ADHD Ireland. Ken has over 25 years experience in senior management positions in a wide range of both very large and very small not for profit organisations in Ireland. His role with ADHD Ireland is to enact the vision and strategy of the Board, and in the words of Captain James T Kirk take this ADHD organisation to where no ADHD organisation has ever been before!

Ulysses 101 dlr LexIcon 2nd February 2023
Recording of an event which was held by the James Joyce Tower and Museum to celebrate James Joyce birthday and the 101st anniversay of the publication of Ulysses.
Professor Sam Slote shared a presentation titled "Ulysses at 101". This was followed by a recital from Morgan Cooke on James Joyce's piano, and then Karen Kelly read an extract from "Sirens".
